《经典传奇》借助《传奇故事》的经验，同时又是一档大型化的历史人文故事节目。继承《传奇故事》的人性化讲述，同时力求新的突破。内容将具有《传奇故事》“加”美国《探索》纪实的新鲜风格。节目最大的亮点还是在于选题的“升级”，选题集中在重大历史问题，时代人物，动人心魄的政治军事斗争，离奇事件。选题在“传奇性”的基础上，还具有鲜明的“经典性”、“热点性”、“阶段火爆性”的特点。

　　2011年，竹内导演为NHK拍摄纪录片《长江天地大纪行》，以此为契机，深深爱上了中国的土地，并决定迁居中国。十年后，决定重走一遍这6300多公里。透过一条江，看中国这十年的变化。中国经济高速发展的这十年，如何通过长江的一路风光，以及在长江沿岸普通百姓的真实生活中展示出来。经济发展的同时，又能给人类带来哪些感悟与反思呢？作为在中国生活近十年的外国人，竹内导演更想让世界看到真实的中国人，真实的中国，也完成了自己与长江的十年之约ccc
