在童话里，长发公主有着世上最长、最美的头发，却被邪恶的巫婆困在城堡里一个王子顺着她从高塔搭下来的头发，爬上塔顶去营救ddd。这次“旧瓶装新酒”对格林童话的原著进行了很大的改动，主人公“长发公主”并不会像故事书里写的那样大部份时间被关在高塔里，而她将在电影一开始就离开高塔。这位暴力公主还会用她瀑布般的长发绑架一个帅气小偷。小偷与公主一同去外面广阔的世界冒险，故事可谓非常具有“女权”色彩。
