6outof7peoplefoundthefollowingcommentusefulaaa Abrilliantandoutragouslyfunnysatireofsociety,7December1999 Author:DaveJoerg(joerd000@mail.zdv.uni-mainz.de) "Flodder"isoneofthefunniestmoviesevermadeandfewpeoplerealisethatitisaDutchmoviemadebynoneotherthantheHollandversionofJohnCarpenter,thefamousDickMaas,authoranddirectorofthethriller"Amsterdamned".TheFlodderfamilyisthereincarnationoftheterma-social.Whenthewholefamilybunch,basicallyallbastards,criminalsandslutsmustberelocatedfromtheirCityslumbecauseoftoxicwasteundertheirhouse,thecitycouncilhousenochoice.Theonlyavailablespaceisinthe"Zoendal"-the"SunValley"thebestareainAmsterdamwherealldoctors,snobsandbusinessmencanaffordtolivetheirlives.Andwherethecentralpointofinterestandpoliticsisthetennisclubofthecommunity.TheFlodderfamilybringsdevastationtothetranquilworldthatruledbefore.Theyaresimplyunbelievable.Thecharacterisationisincrediblyfunny,beginningwithMaFlodderwhosearchesotherpeople'strashcansforfoodormakingillegalliquorinhercellarandendingwiththeeldestdaughterwhoisthebiggestslutonearth.Togethertheymakethemosthorriblefamilyimaginable,asortofimmoralmirrorimagetotheBradyBunchortheWaltons.WhentheCitycounselofAmsterdamhopedthattheFlodderswouldshowtheirgoodwilltobemorecivilisedintheirnewarea,itturnsoutthatHolland'smostfamousfamilywouldratherbringouttheworstintherichpeopleof"SunValley"-wonderland.Therestisahilarious,brilliantandwellmadesocialsatirethatcanbewatchedasaprovocativemovieaswellasastraightforwardcomedy.DickMaasathisbest.Isalutehim!FlooderwastheDutchsmashhitin1986andbroughttwosequelsandatvseries.Allofthesequelswerenicebutnotasgreatastheoriginal.
