Thefilm(andtheacting)issuperblydone,butthestoryisintense.Ilikeitforits'dark,thick,"CulduSac"psychologybutitiscertainlynotforeveryoneforthatveryreason.Setinisolated,ruralFrancemakesthisfilmallthemoredesperateaaa Thefilmisaboutstrenuousrelationships,loyalty-anddespair.Itisaboutacceptinghardshipswithoutreallyunderstandingthem.Itisalsoaboutpityandhowitistobedistinguishedfromloveandadmiration.I'veseenmanyFrenchfilmswiththesameintensityandI'mguessingthatitwillbemostlytheFrenchwhowillenjoythisfilm. Theactingissuperbinthisfilm–ifyou'reintherightstateofmindanddon'tlooseyourconcentration.Jean-FrançoisSteveninALWAYSimpressesme.Hedoesn'tdisappointmehereeither.Forgeneralaudiences,however,I'drecommendhisperformancein"DeuxLionsauSoleil"whichismuchmoreeasilypalatablethan"PeuxdeVaches". DespitethefactthatIlike"PeuxdeVaches",IhavedifficultiesrecommendingittoanyoneotherthanFrenchaudiencesandperhapssomeonewithamorosedemeanor.
